My art reflects my life. I try to stretch relationships beyond the norm: old with new, natural with industrial, or delicate with bold. I love examining what these combinations reveal and the challenges that arise by placing the unexpected together. Working with a variety of elements allows me to create unique and distinctive jewelry, focusing on high quality craftsmanship. Many of my pieces combine Precious Metal Clay (PMC) with gemstones, vintage beads and images. PMC, a fairly new medium, begins as clay, but through shaping and firing, results in fine silver. I treat each element I make with PMC as a small work of art to be incorporated into a necklace or earring. Jewelry making is more than a personal endeavor. I always design with the wearer in mind, understanding the important relationship between a woman and her jewelry. |
